Every day thousands of African Americans, Hispanics, and Appalachians either become sick or die from cancer, HIV/AIDS, cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, obesity, infant mortality, inadequate immunizations, and mental illness. In many instances this sickness or death occurs unnecessarily. The death rates and incidences of illness are disproportionately higher for these groups than for the majority population.
These communities are in a health crisis and The Center For Closing The Health Gap is taking the lead in bringing this issue and solutions to the attention of the Greater Cincinnati region. The Center is the only organization of its kind in this region that serves Southwest Ohio, Southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky.
